The leading cause of death for elderly people is heart disease. There are many risk factors for developing heart disease, including smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels, obesity and diabetes. But by making healthy choices – like eating a balanced diet, exercising regularly and not smoking – you can reduce your risk of developing heart disease significantly.
If you’re over 65 years old, it’s important to get regular checkups from your doctor so that any potential problems can be detected early on. And if you have any symptoms of heart disease – like chest pain or shortness of breath – don’t hesitate to seek medical help right away.
