Most research shows that the natural form of vitamin D (D3) is better than the synthetic form (D2). One study showed that people who took supplemental doses of vitamin D3 were more likely to maintain healthy blood levels than those who took supplemental doses of vitamin D2.
Another study showed that taking calcium supplements with either type of vitamin d was equally effective in raising blood levels, but taking calcium with supplemental doses of vitamin d3 was more effective at increasing bone mineral density than taking it with supplemental doses or vitmain d2
